  • May 17, 2008 - Aces for Kids Charity Golf Tournament Charity - A Charity golf tournament hosted by Turbine Controls, Inc. supporting the Oncology Program at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Tournament will be held at Blue Fox Run Golf course in Avon, CT. The event is known as “The tournament of the Aerospace Industry” and has an early morning shotgun start, followed by a luncheon reception with a raffle and auction.   • May 18, 2008 - Babci’s Run In celebration of Ann Sikorski, Great Grandmother to Kara, who has inherited the Celiac Disease Gene and developed IBD (inflammatory bowel disease). Babci, (Polish for Grandmother) passed away in the summer of 2007. She lived her life the way she wanted to and enjoyed every minute! We want all children who live with Celiac Disease and/or IBD to enjoy every minute of their life too! All monies raised will provide additional research and public awareness for families who have children diagnosed with Celiac Disease and/or IBD.   • May 18, 2008 - Connecticut Miracle Ride Presented by Yankee Harley-Davidson The premier motorcycle fundraising event, Miracle Ride is celebrating its 13th year in 2008. Riders gather from around the state and converge on Hartford Hospital’s Newington Campus where they are arranged into a collective group. The riders then follow a unified procession through the streets of Hartford (passing by Connecticut Children’s Medical Center where riders can wave to the kids) and ultimately ending at historic Lake Compounce - New England’s Family Theme Park in Bristol for an afternoon of fun. Last year more than 1,500 motorcycles participated in the ride raising more than $50,000 for CCMC. The 2008 ride will support Connecticut Children’s Medical Center’s Department of Surgery.   • June 1, 2008 - Cycle of Life - In conjunction with National Cancer Survivor’s Day, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center’s Division of Hematology/Oncology is hosting a celebration for children who are currently undergoing treatment for cancer and for those who have completed treatment. The event is free and all pediatric cancer survivors and their families are most welcome. The Division is also raising funds and awareness for the new REACH for the STARS Survivorship Clinic. The celebration will be held at the Riverfront Plaza in Hartford from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and will feature a carnival-like atmosphere with interactive games, activities, food, prizes, and entertainment as well as tricycle and bicycle exercise challenges.   • June 6, 2008 - Connecticut Culinary Masters Classic - Dinner event taking place at the Hartford Steam Boiler Building – Restaurant On20 at the Polytechnic Club Hartford, CT. The evening’s concept is built around pairing fine wines with spectacular food. The opening reception and each course of the multi-course formal dinner are designed and executed by a different leading chef in the region and is paired with an outstanding and special wine. The evening also includes silent and live auctions that feature exceptional wines and dining experiences.   • June 7, 2008 – Second Annual Margolis Family Tag Sale to benefit Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and St. Francis Hospital. Michelle and Steven Margolis and their two boys, Zachary and Nathan, are having a tag sale to raise money in memory of the family member they lost. They want to raise money for CCMC in honor of Zachary and Nathan's 2-year-old brother Ben, who died in 2007 after having a seizure.

    A fund has been established in Ben's honor. Those who want to make a monetary donation can send checks to the Benjamin C. Margolis Memorial Fund, c/o New Alliance Bank, 55 S. Main St., West Hartford, CT, 06107.

    The tag sale will be Saturday, June 7th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Margolis home at 194 Warrenton Ave, West Hartford, CT. In case of rain, the sale will be Sunday, June 8th.   • June 15, 2008 - 8th Annual FCA/NER Concorso Ferrari Presented by N.V. Perricone M.D. -Event sponsored by the Ferrari Club of America – New England Region and N.V. Perricone, LLC supporting Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Department of Neurosurgery. New England’s largest Ferrari car show – featuring more than 100 current and vintage Ferraris at the Capitol Building in Hartford for a car show, judging contest, public viewing and more. The morning begins with a select few cars (40) participating in a patient parade. The cars arrive at Connecticut Children’s and take 40 (pre-selected) children back to the Capitol in parade procession. The patients and families are then treated to a private luncheon complete with gift bags for the children. In addition to the Ferraris being on display for public viewing and a judged competition, the event includes food, memorabilia sales, live entertainment and a silent auction.   • August 28, 29 & 30, 2008 - 102.9 DRC-FM 6th Annual Children’s Miracle Network Radiothon - This is a three-day event in which 102.9 DRC-FM broadcasts live from the CCMC Cafeteria. During the broadcast, they will highlight experiences of our patients through live interviews and taped segments and encourage their listeners to call in and make donations. This takes place as part of their regular broadcast schedule (between songs) each day from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. In 2007, the radiothon reached an all time fundraising record of more than $205,000.   • September 29, 2008 - 6th Annual Geno Auriemma’s “Fore the Kids” Charity Golf Tournament - Golf tournament hosted by Head Coach Geno Auriemma. The tournament is held at the Hartford Golf Club in West Hartford, CT and features a shamble format, followed by a dinner reception catered by Outback Steakhouse and an auction emceed by Geno. The event will support Connecticut Children’s Medical Center’s Department of Orthopaedics, Sports Injury Prevention Program and Department of Hematology/Oncology for services for bone cancer patients.   • November 1, 2008 - 16th Annual CCMC Auxiliary Storybook Gala - The Storybook Gala is the signature formal dinner benefit for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center being held at the Hartford Marriott Downtown. This year's special guest is television and film star Ben Vereen. As the signature formal benefit for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, the Storybook Gala is a special evening with dancing, live and silent auctions, and featured children’s author Suzy Kline. With over 500 people expected to be in attendance, the Gala is going to be an extraordinary celebration of the vital mission of Connecticut Children's Medical Center.

    Gifts to the event's spotlight program, through Bidz for Kids, will support the costs of constructing a new $5 million clinical care center at CCMC for children with cancer and allied blood diseases. This facility will unite and expand clinical care services, research initiatives and family support programs in one new state-of-the-art setting.

  • November 2008 – Vie for the Kids - VIE, a local corporate training company, hosts the event, appropriately called "VIE for the Kids" to support Connecticut Children’s Medical Center’s Cancer Clinical Trials Program. In 2007, Pettibone's Tavern in Simsbury, CT donated the full use of the restaurant and dinner for 120 people. The evening will include a wine tasting as well as silent and live auctions.
