If you're interested in conducting a toy drive and/or participating in a special project to benefit the patients of Connecticut Children's Medical Center, here are some guidelines to follow.

Guidelines
The following guidelines have been established, in accordance with hospital policies, to assist you in conducting a successful toy drive or making your toy purchases.

We request that you donate only new toys and that they are safe and appropriate for hospitalized infants, children or teenagers. Please be particularly attentive to toys that may pose a safety hazard, such as those with sharp edges or that contain small, removable, or easily breakable parts. Guns and/or war toys are also inappropriate. Also, please do not gift-wrap the toys, as it is necessary to check the safety and appropriateness of every toy for each individual patient.

Holiday donations delivered in November or early December are most helpful. Patient entertainment, Santa's visit, carolers and gift distributions keep us very busy the last two weeks of December. Your efforts to deliver toys early will be greatly appreciated. We do not allow people to come dressed in costume (Santa Claus, cartoon characters, etc).

Large donations may be delivered to Shipping and Receiving on Seymour Street between 8 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays. You may also bring your donations to Child and Family Support Services (5C) between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. Please call 860.545.9880 in advance to let us know you are coming.

For your convenience, we have a list of suggested items that are age appropriate for infants, toddlers, pre-school, school-age children, and teens.
