The Center provides diagnostic evaluation and management of the full spectrum of acute and chronic hepatobiliary/liver disease in infants, children, and adolescents.

Highly specialized care is provided by physicians who are experts in pediatric liver disease and who are assisted by specialty nurses and nutritionists. The full complement of diagnostic techniques – including liver biopsy, endoscopy, ERCP, Doppler ultrasound, CT and MRI scanning, MRCP, and angiography – are available as needed.

We treat children for:

  • Alagille syndrome

  • Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency

  • Autoimmune hepatitis

  • Bile acid disorders

  • Biliary atresia

  • Cholestasis
  • Drug-induced liver disease

  • Gallstones

  • Hepatitis A, B, C, and other viruses

  • Liver failure (acute/chronic, with referral for liver transplantation as indicated)

  • Metabolic liver disease (inborn errors of metabolism)

  • Neonatal jaundice

  • Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

  • Portal hypertension

  • Post-liver transplantation care

Specialized diagnostic testing such as liver biopsy, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP), esophageal vein banding and sclerosis are performed
