The Scottish Rite Brace

The Brace
A Scottish Rite Brace has been prescribed to treat your child's hip problem. The following information should help you to properly care for your child and the brace during treatment. It is important that you understand and follow the instructions given in order to effectively maintain the correct hip position.

The brace consists of thigh cuffs with a telescoping spreader bar and a suspension belt with hinges.

General Instructions
The physician will determine the number of hours per day the Scottish Rite Brace needs to be worn.

Bathing:
Bathe your child as usual with the brace removed.

Clothing:
The brace is worn over your child's clothing.

Scottish Rite Brace Care:
Clean the cuffs by wiping with damp washcloth and pat dry.
