HARTFORD, Conn.Nina S. Livingston, MD, of Durham, has joined Connecticut Children’s Medical Center as an attending pediatrician with the SCAN Program (Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect).

The SCAN Program—which is part of the medical center’s Child Protection Program—provides medical, forensic and psychosocial consultation to medical providers, patients and families at the medical center. Led by Director Frederick Berrien, MD, the SCAN Program is a collaborative effort between Connecticut Children’s and the Aetna Foundation Children’s Center at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.

Dr. Livingston received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, PA, and her medical degree from Harvard Medical School. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Washington/Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Seattle and is board-certified in pediatrics.

Since completing her residency training, Dr. Livingston has been a general pediatrician for medically underserved children and has a special interest in the care of foster children. She practiced at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY before joining the Community Health Center of New Britain, where she had practiced for the past five years. Dr. Livingston will be based at CCMC and will spend some of her time at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. She is available for consultation in cases of any type of suspected child abuse or neglect.
